Welcome! I am Jennifer Mayette, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) located in Ridgefield, Connecticut.

I received my master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Fairfield University in 2012, and I am a level 3 trained IFS therapist.

I believe that Internal Family Systems is the best way for me to help you understand what motivates you to act and react. I also hold a certification for IFIO, Intimacy from the Inside Out, using IFS with couples.

My therapeutic style is client-centered, compassionate, and curious about what brings you here to therapy.

My approach has been described as calm, non-judgmental, and hopeful, as I offer a way for you to get to know what gets in the way of your goals and explore the areas of your life where you feel unfulfilled and stuck.

In my professional career, I look fondly back on two decisions that have shaped me into the therapist I am today.

The first is my time cutting my teeth as a newbie therapist working with children, who were at risk for hospitalization or incarceration, and their families in their homes. I often think of these families who helped me to learn everything I didn’t in graduate school and to become the therapist I am today.

The second decision was learning about the model of therapy called Internal Family Systems (IFS).

The learning experience has been a vital aspect of contributing to my worldview of myself, as a therapist, a wife, a mother, a friend, and as a daughter and sister.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, my twin girls, and my family, and I feel honored to support you and your families as a therapist, too.

“To listen is to continually give up all expectation and to give our attention, completely and freshly, to what is before us, not really knowing what we will hear or what that will mean. In the practice of our days, to listen is to lean in, softly, with a willingness to be changed by what we hear.”
